Case Studies

Reed Business Information

Between 2000-2006, Reed Business Information had outsourced their "in-house server backup management" and "Desktop delivery to desk" to Oakland Associates Ltd. Service Level Agreements (SLAs) were put in place. Oakland Associates Ltd had provided two site engineers with a floating engineer as and when required. For the "in-house backup management" our day to day responsibility was to analyse the daily backup remote for each server, resolve failures within specific time frame, change backup tapes for each server, dispatch tapes to off-site holding site and provide management with a daily report.

For the "Desktop delivery to desk", our onsite engineer would handle delivery of new workstations assigned to new users or replacing existing workstations. These workstations would then be configured for the user with applications specific to the user. The engineer would then arrange with the user for an appointment to install the workstation at the desk and provide basic if necessary. We had an SLA of 3 days to complete the whole process. We had never failed the SLAs. Since 2006.

Forte Hotel Group

In 1997, Oakland Associates Ltd was outsourced the project of upgrading back-office equipment for over 200 hotel /lodges /inns. This project was allocated 11 months. The hardware was purchased by Forte and delivered to each site 2 weeks prior to installation date. Our task was to install and configure the server hardware and software. All the workstations were then configured to the new network. We had to also provide CAT5 & electrical points to meet the project requirements. An NICEIC certified electrician was employed by Oakland for this project to carry out the required electrical work. The project was completed in just over 9 months.

Schenker

In 1994, Schenker International was looking for a service provider who could not only project manage their IT requirements, but also provide other services. The project was to upgrade their Head Office and 10 branches office with new computer hardware, software including server technology, implementation and training.

Oakland Associates Ltd initially supplied 14 Compaq servers, 183 workstations, over 50 network printing devices. Each office was configured with a Novell server technology. Each workstation on the network was running Microsoft Windows with Microsoft Office. This project was allocated 8 months and we completed it on time. Because of our success, we were then asked to provide ongoing support by providing an on-site engineer to maintain day to day support issues. We provided this service for over 6 yrs until the company merged with a larger organisation and the service was no longer required.
